We are looking for an Optical Fiber Sensors Engineer (FOG Systems) to join our Photonics and Quantum Sensing team.
Tasks to be performed:
Implementation and assembly of optical fiber sensing subsystems and Fiber Optic Gyroscope (FOG) setups in laboratory environments
Build, integrate and test optical fiber sensing subsystems and FOG setups in laboratory environments
Work hands-on with specialty optical fibers (fusion splicing, handling and integration)
Set up and execute experimental campaigns to evaluate sensor performance (noise, drift, stability)
Troubleshoot and optimize optical and photonic subsystems
Analyze experimental data and validate system performance
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electronics, software, mechanics) to develop complete systems
Document testing activities and support the transition from prototype to robust solutions
Required skills, experience and candidate profile:
Degree in Physics, Photonics, Electronic Engineering or related field
3–4 years of hands-on experience in optical fiber sensors, photonic systems or FOG
Strong laboratory experience in optical instrumentation, integration and testing
Experience in system characterization (noise, stability, performance)
Familiarity with optical lab equipment (OSA, oscilloscopes, photodetectors, etc.)
Experience in fiber handling and fusion splicing
Problem-solving mindset and ability to troubleshoot experimental setups
Experience in data analysis
High level of technical English
Additionally, we will also value experience in the following areas:
Experience in inertial sensing or precision instrumentation
Programming skills (Python, MATLAB)
Experience in calibration and validation of high-performance systems
Background in aerospace, defense or advanced optical technologies
Experience in industrialization or transition from lab to product
Knowledge of environmental testing or quantum sensing technologies
📍The position will be available at both our offices in Tenerife and Madrid.
Flexibility to travel between these locations is required.
