We are currently looking for a Lead Graphics Engineer.
Primary Function and Scope:
We’re looking for an experienced Lead Graphics Engineer to join Volinga’s core engineering team and take ownership of our rendering architecture. In this role, you will define the technical direction of our graphics systems (spanning the Volinga Suite, the Unreal Engine plugin, and our proprietary Vulkan-based engine) while leading and mentoring a team of engineers. Primary Functions:
• Define and own the graphics architecture of Volinga’s engine, plugin, and suite, ensuring scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
• Lead, mentor, and support the graphics engineering team, providing technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and fostering their professional growth.
• Coordinate with other technical leads (Product, Engineering) to align on architecture decisions, integration interfaces, and development priorities.
Unreal Engine: Lead the architecture and development of Volinga’s 3DGS rendering plugin, ensuring deep integration with the engine’s rendering pipeline.
Vulkan: Define and evolve the architecture of Volinga’s proprietary Vulkan-based rendering engine, balancing technical debt with forward-looking design.
• Design and oversee the integration of cutting-edge radiance field features into real-time pipelines, taking responsibility for technical feasibility and delivery.
• Review pull requests from the graphics team, enforcing quality standards, architectural consistency, and best practices across the codebase.
• Drive continuous improvement in performance, architecture, and integration, identifying technical risks early and proposing mitigation strategies.
Education and Required Competencies:
Level - Required Degree of Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Engineering or a related field.

• Computer Graphics Specialization
• Game Development Specialization (optional)
• Specific Training / Knowledge Required in:
• Proficiency in modern C++ including solid understanding of design patterns and best practices.
• Strong experience with debugging and performance profiling techniques.
• Hands-on experience with ECS-based game engine architectures
• Experience leading and mentoring small teams
• Experience in the following:
Unreal Engine C++ development (Blueprints, Niagara, Post-processing, Custom Shaders).
Vulkan graphics programming (experience in other APIs like OpenGL, DirectX is a plus).
• Strong understanding of shader development.
• Solid foundations in linear algebra, space transformations, and coordinate systems.
• Familiarity with graphics and performance profiling tools (e.d., Nvidia Nsightm, RenderDoc).
• Experience with Cmake.
• Experience with 3DGS is a plus
• Experience with interoperability between graphics APIs is a plus.
• Experience with CUDA ang GPGPU programming is a plus.
• Knowledge of color science and color management using OCIO is a plus.
Minimum Required Experience:
• 5 years in graphics programming, with demonstrated experience in architecture decisions and team-level technical leadership.
Personal Skills:
• Strong leadership and mentoring ability, capable of guiding and developing other engineers effectively.
• Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical decisions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker, able to balance short-term deliverables with long-term architectural vision. Proactive, autonomous, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced startup environment.
The position is based at our offices in the NANOTEC Building, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife.
