Meet Germán Andrés Pescador, Machine Learning Engineer, who started his career at ARQUIMEA in our Young Talents program.

"Hello everyone! I am Germán, a native of Tenerife, and I studied Computer Engineering at the University of La Laguna. When I finished my degree, I moved to Valencia to study a Master's Degree in Artificial Intelligence, under the belief that I would not find a job on my island. 

That changed when in June 2023 I started working at ARQUIMEA's research center: ARQUIMEA Research Center, which is located in San Cristóbal de la Laguna, in Tenerife. 

I started my journey as an intern in a technical position to advance an AI orbital project. At the same time I finished my Master's Thesis. Six months later, I signed an indefinite contract as a Machine Learning Engineer, a position I am currently in, to participate in an even larger project, in which international partners are involved, and for which soon there will be results that we can consider a success. 

I entered without any professional experience in AI, but over the months I have acquired all kinds of knowledge thanks to my colleagues, both inside and outside the orbital. 

And next steps? Looking to the future, I am considering together with my mentor at ARC the possibility of extending my training with an industrial doctorate in a field that is still very uncertain, but quite promising, which will help me to continue advancing personally and professionally, and hopefully open up new possibilities for future projects."
